no dont let them go, they will never be the sameAnswer #4:
IF I had kids I wouldn't. All sorts of wacko stuff there plus I don't like the heat.Answer #5:
Hrmmmm congested hotels with ripoff expensive prices just because it's Semana Santa (mexican nationals flock to the beaches like parasites during Spring Break). Remember that in Mexico you can do a lot of things you can't in the US. I've seen children buy beer no questions asked in little stores here, nobody cards underage drinkers unless they go to some night clubs. They will have fun, but mexicans in the tourist industry HATE American spring breakers. They are sucky tourists. They damage hotel property, never tip, make a lot of noise and don't engage in other tourist activities (like ride banana boats or go on whale tours) the European and Mexican tourists do. My sister used to work for the industry and really hated American Spring breakers for the above mentioned reasons. Everyone in Playa prefers European tourists.
I am forced to work on Semana Santa because of how my contract works (good, I didn't want my vacations at this time of year anyways), but I'd avoid the beaches like the plague. There's much more to Mexico than just Cancun. I myself will probably do a bit of tourism in the parts of Mexico no tourist has ever bothered to visit because they simply don't know about those hidden places.
Answer #6:
Would I vacation in Mexico? Yes. I have done so many times and plan on doing so many more times. In fact, I'll be visiting again next month after the whole Spring Break thing is over.Would I let my kids go to Mexico alone? It depends on their age. If they're in high school going on a senior trip, I would be okay with that. If they're in high school or college and want to go for Spring Break, definitely no. Although let's not kid ourselves into believing that there aren't any wild events and parties here in the States during Spring Break.
And of course, depending on the kid, if he or she is an adult in college and wants to go, they will go regardless of what we say. They're just not going to go on my dime. Hopefully they'll take our advice into consideration though and choose to spend their Spring Break doing something else.
Answer #7:
Yes, I am 18 and I just came back yesterday from Mexico. Some parts of Mexico are dangerous just like some parts in the U.S. are.
If i had kids it would depend on whether they were responsible and if i felt that i can trust them.
I went to Collima, Mexico. One of the nicest places in Mexico you can visit...perfect weather and awesome food.
